Therapy/Counseling for Families & Co-Parenting

Are you noticing that your family has poor communication and it feels like your family unit has grown apart? Is there a desire to go back to “the way it used to be?” Jonathan W. Thompson II offers therapy/counseling for families and co-parents in Santa Barbara and throughout California virtually.

You are seen.

When your family has poor communication and it feels like you have grown apart, there is often a desire to want to return to “the way it used to be.” This change cannot happen as you are a different person today than you were in the past.

Acknowledging this fact can feel sad and hopeless when there are quarrels about differing parenting styles, when you or your partner are not fully present (physically, emotionally), and co-parenting feels like a battle instead of a team effort.

I help you to shift your communication and challenge negative thoughts that can lead to frustration when dealing with the family system. I assist you with creating healthy boundaries and a co-parenting plan that works for the adults and the children/adolescents.

I started a Trauma Informed Parenting Group in 2014 at a local non-profit and grew the program to become countywide. I have extensive experience working with families, including resource (foster) families. I have also taught parents from courses such as Nurturing Parenting, Love and Logic and have worked with hundreds of families countywide on building healthy habits to co-parent effectively.
