Greetings! You've emerged resilient from a global pandemic and are now poised to survive and thrive. While our shared experience has reshaped the world, you might find your personal journey feeling stagnant. That's precisely why I'm here. I want to warmly welcome you as you take this crucial initial step towards healing and well-being.

My greatest passion lies in educating and guiding individuals to achieve optimal functioning, offering them practical insights, a renewed sense of hope, and personalized affirmations. Allow me to introduce myself – I'm Jonathan W. Thompson II, founder and owner of Wane Wellness. I aspire to leverage this desire to revolutionize the world by creating avenues and opportunities for diverse populations to access top-tier therapy.

A driving force behind my enthusiasm for counseling is the recognition that numerous children, adolescents, athletes, and adults have not received the affirmation and recognition they deserve from those who were meant to care for and cherish them. These lacking relationships may have cast shadows on your worldview, leading to emotions such as sadness, confusion, anger, and frustration. These experiences might have left you feeling undervalued and struggling to form deep emotional connections or trust others.

I firmly believe that you wield the power to shape your destiny. Just like a remarkable superhero, you possess a unique origin story. Together, through therapeutic collaboration, we will craft a vision of your optimal life, fostering hope for your interpersonal connections. Believing in something unseen requires faith, but consider this: if we could see it, wouldn't the possibility be unquestionable? I wholeheartedly believe in your potential for change. I am ready to stand alongside you as an enthusiastic partner during this transformative phase.

On a personal note, I can attest to this transformation. Identifying as a Black male in the United States, I've witnessed the challenges faced by the Black/African-American community and those identifying as Black, Indigenous, and People Of Color (BIPOC/POC) when seeking therapy. Due to the absence of such examples during my upbringing, I possess a distinctive perspective on counseling. My conviction in the efficacy of treatment stems from my journey through it. Much like a car getting a tune-up before the engine fails, I seek therapy proactively. My ability to sit in the therapist's chair directly results from having been in your shoes seeking assistance. Through adept therapy and persistent effort, I've attained a life filled with satisfaction, joy, and serenity. Though the journey had its trials, the rewards were undeniable. These personal and professional achievements fuel my commitment to inspire change, encourage, and offer guidance (even if it involves difficult conversations). My experience of navigating life with less external support has fostered my self-reliance, thirst for knowledge, and the subsequent phase of my career – establishing a thriving private practice.

As an impassioned mental health clinician who identifies as Black, I aim to empower others to lead their best lives. This earnestness is a product of diverse experiences, equipping me to authentically join you on the therapeutic voyage and provide top-quality treatment.

I've cultivated my expertise through a diverse educational background encompassing a Political Science undergraduate degree with a Religious Studies minor, a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential qualifying me to work with children aged 0-8, and a Master's Degree in Psychology. With over a decade of experience, I'm a seasoned Black mental health clinician adept at working with children, adolescents, athletes, young adults, couples, parents, and families – including resource (foster) parents. My therapeutic approach combines a trauma-informed framework with an eclectic methodology, all delivered in a conversational style. Together, let's embark on a collaborative journey towards healing and growth.
